I'm trying to figure out how to hardwire tether my GH4 to a Mac computer. Right now we are using a 40D with the EOS Utility software. It seems like the software choice for Panasonic is the PhotoFunStudio. Herein lies the problem; PhotoFunStudio is a Windows only program. We do run Parallels on our systems, so that shouldn't be a problem. Panasonic’s LUMIX Tether for Streaming is still considered to be in Beta and is only available for Windows 10. It is also compatible with a small number of LUMIX cameras, namely the DC-GH5, DC.
This article displays a workaround for people who are unable to import and edit Panasonic Lumix GH4 AVCHD footage in Premiere Pro smoothly. It presents a step-by-step guide on how to convert GH4 MTS files to a format that is Premiere friendly.
One of the most prominent features of Panasonic LUMIX GH4 is unlimited 4K video recording in both QFHD 4K: 3840×2160 / up to 30 fps, and Cinema 4K: 4096×2160 / 24 fps in MOV/MP4 recording format. More than 4K video recording capability, the GH4 also features ability to capture Full HD 1080p footage up to 60p in AVCHD format. Since there are so many people asking for the best workflow for GH4 AVCHD clips and Premiere, we would like to display a step-by-step guide on how to convert GH4 AVCHD MTS clips to an intermediate format, so that Premiere Pro will recognize and handle them well without glitches and you will never consider MTS files as a kind of pains to work with.

2. LUMIX Tether for Streaming (Beta) for Mac
Following the release of “LUMIX Tether for Streaming (Beta)” for Windows, “LUMIX Tether for Streaming (Beta)” for Mac has also been released – based on “LUMIX Tether (Ver.1.7)” with an additional display option for instances where this software is used for live streaming.
As “LUMIX Tether” is a software program originally designed for tethered shooting, Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) such as a focus area mark, as well as control panels, are displayed with live view images on a monitor during USB tethering. However, these graphic items become a hindrance when the software is used to capture a camera view for live streaming. In response to customer requests, LIVE VIEW mode has been added on “LUMIX Tether for Streaming (Beta)”. It enables display of the camera view only, making it easy for separate streaming software to read it. Users can choose to show or hide these graphic items during USB tethering according to their requirements.
“LUMIX Tether for Streaming (Beta)” for Mac is provided as a pre-release version that is currently still under development. Please note that this software is not eligible for operation warranty and customer support. Compatible LUMIX models are: GH5, G9, GH5S, S1, S1R, S1H.
